4 (Precious) Tips for Safe Sunscreen Use

1. Always use Sunscreen!  Even if it is not sunny you need to be really careful with your skin.  The damaging rays of the sun can effectively penetrate the skin, so long as there is daylight, you need to protect your skin.  You should be wearing an SPF of at least 15 every day if you want to prevent skin cancer.

2. Apply correctly!  Sunscreen should be applied to clean dry skin at least 30 minutes before exposure to the sun which allows it time to absorb properly, and always keep reapplying after 2 hours.

3. Take time out in the shade!  Between 11 a.m and 4 p.m the sun is strongest
so, try to avoid being directly under the sun during those hours.  However, you should still apply sunscreen because sand, concrete and water can reflect harmful rays.

4. Use the right quantity!  Adults should apply 30 milliliters (approximately
two tablespoons) of sunscreen to cover their entire body.  And if you have oily skin you should use a specific sunscreen protector for your face.
