Experiencing dry, dull winter skin?
You may be asking yourself, “Why does my skin get so dry around this time of year?”  During the fall & winter the air is noticeably drier because cold air holds less moisture than warm air.  Even if you turn up the heater in your house so that it feels warm and toasty, the air is still lacking humidity which can make the skin dry out. ASerenity has provided some helpful tips below to help combat dehydrated winter skin.

Tip#1: Hydrate from the inside out!

At ASerenity we believe that the way your skin looks is a reflection of your inner health. That’s why we recommend to combat dryness starting from the inside first. Taking supplements that contain essential fatty acids such as fish oil and borage oil not only offer mood and cognition benefits, it can also boost the skin’s hydration level. And of course, be sure to hydrate throughout the day by drinking plenty of water. Our esthetician Kristina Tiedemann takes & recommends Nordic Naturals products to make the skin glow from the inside out!

Tip#2: Exfoliate

Dead skin cells can build up over time creating a dull look to our skin. To get your glow back, exfoliate 1-2x a week.

Try Ageless Total Resurfacing Mask. This scrub/mask contains an exfoliating blend of glycolic and salicylic acid which remove dead skin cells and smooth overall tone. Weekly exfoliation also helps the skin absorb moisture better. If your skin is sensitive or just extra dry, use a non-abrasive, enzymatic exfoliant such the Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Mask.

Tip#3: Use a good quality moisturizer

Not all moisturizers are created equal. Avoid moisturizers that contain petroleum. While petroleum acts as a great skin protectant, it is more of a barrier on the skin than a hydrator. Make sure to apply moisturizer while skin is slightly damp to lock moisture in further.

Try Ormedic Balancing Bio-Peptide Cream. This balancing cream is chock full of peptides which help deliver essential nutrients and vitamins to the skin. An organic blend of super antioxidants like pomegranate, Japanese green tea & grape seed extracts help to nourish & balance the skin.
