What is the difference between Crystal Microdermabrasion & Diamond Tip?
We offer both Crystal and Diamond tip options for your treatment. Depending on your skin we can customize your Microdermabrasion treatment.
Crystal microdermabrasion technology uses a hand-held wand that propels a flow of crystals onto the skin. The diamond-tip, the crystal or water flow is replaced with a circular diamond head. This is moved back and forth across the skin to remove dead skin cells.
We find that Diamond tip microdermabrasion is also not as effective on irregular surfaces because there are no crystals to fit the exact irregularities of the skin. It is generally accepted that Crystal (Aluminium Oxide) Microdermabrasion will produce a deeper 'peel or exfoliation' than a Diamond treatment. However, for sensitive skin we use the Diamond tip because it is gentler but still effective.
Please Note:
We will not be able to perform Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peels if you are on any medication for acne, wrinkles or pigmentation (i.e. Retina-A, Hydroquinone, Acutane). Please discontinue use for at least 72 hours before and after your treatment.
